Act Before You’re Ready

We may know that a growth mindset trumps a fixed mindset…

That READY – FIRE – AIM beats READY – AIM – READY – AIM…

We may agree with the saying “Feel the fear and do it anyway”…

But at the deepest part of us, the part that matters, we still hold back out of fear.

So we resort to the familiar loop of “I’ll wait till I know everything before I implement”.

When I’ve finished reading the book…

When I’ve finished making notes on what the author recommended…

When I’ve completely understood how to go about it and what to do first, second, third and so on…

By the time we’re done – if we’re fortunate not to have been derailed by discouragement, loss of motivation, life admin, health issues, and various other “reasons” – six months might have passed.

Six months in which we could have taken the first baby steps to find out if this thing we embarked on with such enthusiasm and conviction really works, and if not, what adjustments and refinements we can make.

Don’t let the quest for perfection be a guise for avoiding the action you know you need to take today.
